Ex-football star George Weah has thanked Liberians for voting him as the country’s president and said “change is on.”
The former World Player of The Year won the election with an unassailable 61.5 percent of the votes counted, the National Electoral Commission said on Thursday.
The commission noted that 98.1 percent of votes placed have been counted.
And while thanking his people for the victory, the former AC Millan striker admitted the huge responsibility that comes with the position.
He took to his official Twitter handle to write: “My fellow Liberians, I deeply feel the emotion of all the nation. I measure the importance and the responsibility of the immense task which I embrace today. Change is on.”
