The Emir of Gwandu, Alhaji Muhammadu Bashar, on Wednesday said the alarming abuse of drugs by youths has to be curtailed and eradicated quick.
The monarch said it is worrying to note the high number of drug abusers in the state.
Speaking to chairmen of local government areas in his domain, Bashir urged them to begin sensitising the populace on the dangers of drug abuse.
He said parents and guardians should be incorporated into the sensitisation campaign, urging them to keep an observant eye on their wards.
“Considering the negative impact of drug abuse on the society, I want all stakeholders to monitor the activities of their children in order to enthrone a better society,’’ he said.
The Gwandu Emirate would also do its bit in eradicating the social menace. This was disclosed by the Tambarin of Gwandu Emirate, Alhaji Sani Dododo.
He said this will be achieved through the institution of training on different vocational skills that will empower the youth while also keeping them busy.
Dododo called for support as the emirate begins the implementation of the development policies and programmes.
