Gov Umar Ganduje of Kano State

The Kano State Commissioner of Information, Muhammad Garba, has assured that the state government does not plan to sack teachers.

The commissioner was responding to rumours that the state government was planning o sack some teachers.

Garba said the speculation was mischievous, untrue and uncalled-for.

He said the state deputy governor, Professor Hafiz Abubakar, who is also the Commissioner of Education, has never prepared a memo in that respect.

The Commissioner said: “To the best of knowledge, there is no place this issue was discussed at government level.

“So, present administration of Kano state has no plan whatsoever to sack teachers or any civil servant in the state.”

Garba said the state government had sponsored 25,000 primary schools teachers to obtain National Certificates (NCE) and degree certificates respectively.

He added that another set of 20,000 teachers were currently studying at various institutions across the country to get their NCE or degree certificates.
