Youths in Anambra state have called on Governor Willie Obiano to quickly conduct local council elections in the state.
The youths, under the umbrella of Anambra State Association of Town Unions, made the call on Monday.
According to its leader, Osita Ozalagba, this will ensure that Anambra people enjoy democracy to the fullest.
“The governor inherited elected council chairmen and councillors from his predecessor, Mr. Peter Obi and it would be preposterous for him to relapse in the old order by using transition committee chairmen and councillors,” he told Vanguard.
He also said the elections will make youths in rural areas take part in governance.
Ozagbala praised the governor for his development strides and called on him to restructure the ministry of youths.
“The governor, while boosting security in the state that would attract investors, should also liaise with donor agencies for the state to benefit from their largese.”
Obiano was re-elected for a second term on 18 November, 2017.
