Libya has deported 124 illegal migrants from Côte d’Ivoire on Thursday, according to an official of the Tripoli Illegal Immigration.
It was gathered that the deportees voluntarily decided to return home after failure to get to Europe through the Mediterranean Sea.
“Department says a total of 124 illegal immigrants from Ivory Coast were voluntarily deported on Thursday from the Libya n capital Tripoli,” head of media office, Tripoli Illegal Immigration, Hosni Abu-Ayana, said.
“The child Mamani returned to her home in Ivory Coast today, accompanied by 123 other illegal immigrants from Ivory Coast,” Hosni Abu-Ayana.”
“The migrants returned within the humanitarian voluntary program by the International Organization for Migration in cooperation with the Libyan authorities.”
Libya serves as a main departure point for illegal migrants seeking to cross the Mediterranean towards European shores.
