The Federal Government is set to roll out a scorecard that will ensure that all government websites are efficient and effective to facilitate Executive Order 001 on the ease of doing business in the country.
The Ag. Director-General, Bureau of Public Service Reforms, (BPSR), D.I Arabi made this known in Abuja recently during a Stakeholders meeting to formulate criteria to develop scorecard for ranking of government websites.
Arabi pointed out that websites play a key role in promoting transparency and efficiency in the business environment, also disclosed that government aspirations in delivering its change agenda is further demonstrated in the far-reaching Executive Order it signed to ensure that business explorations in Nigeria are devoid of bottlenecks.
“This stakeholders session, therefore, aims to put in place effective mechanism/scorecard which the government can use to spur MDAs to improve their online capabilities, disseminate information widely, keep their websites up to date, readily available to attend to public complaints and promote openness and transparency” he said.
In line with the vision of the recently updated the National Strategy for Public Service Reforms (NSPSR), the Ag. DG expressed the hope that public institutions will be able to deliver tangible services through prompt and proactive disclosure of information to achieve a world class Public Service by 2025.
Further speaking, Arabi observed that the Bureau as a reform driver is spurred by the passion to effectively disseminate information and this is evident in its website and twitter platforms which has over 800,000 hits.
He lauded the Right to Know (R2K), a non-government organisation and its sponsor, the MacArthur Foundation for their continued support in ensuring that the Public Service is responsive and accessible.
Present at the forum were representatives of Galaxy, SERVICOM, Federal Ministry of Communication, Office of the Head of Service, Nigeria Internet Registration Association (NIRA), and National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA).
