Femi Fani-Kayode

Former Minister of Aviation Femi Fani-Kayode has called on political parties in Nigeria to treat Yoruba people with respect if they want to win the 2019 presidential election.

The Chieftain of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) made this known in a post on his Twitter handle on Thursday.

Fani-Kayode wrote: ”Consider this: any political party that does not treat the Yoruba people with the respect they deserve will lose the Presidency in 2019.

”You cannot win without substantial Yoruba support. That was the lesson of 2015 and those that have not learnt it will suffer the consequences.”

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Culture and Tourism also called on the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration to learn from the Spanish government.

The Catalan region in Spain has said it would call for a referendum to determine if it would remain in Spain or be an independent nation.

Reacting on Friday to Catalan’s call for referendum, Fani-Kayode said: ”The people of Catalan in Spain are insisting on a referendum.

”Their leader says he will declare independence if the “yes” vote wins.

”The Spanish govt. refuses to recognise the process but they have NOT called the people of Catalan terrorists or sent in the army. LEARN FROM THIS!”
