Gov. Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta has congratulated Festus Keyamo and Ekemejero Ohwovoriole on their recent elevation to the rank of Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN).
The governor’s commendation was contained in a statement issued on Thursday in Asaba by his Chief Press Secretary, Charles Aniagwu.
Okowa said that he received with joy the news of the appointment of the two illustrious Deltans to the enviable position of Senior Advocate.
“As a state, we are proud to see our sons making real progress in the latest appointments to the silk.
“We are glad that Delta state produced two of the 29 new silks sworn in on Monday by the Chief Justice of Nigeria (CJN).
“On behalf of the government and people of Delta State, I congratulate Barr. Festus Keyamo and Barr. Ekemejero Ohwovoriole on their recent elevation to the prestigious inner bar.
He urged Keyamo and Ohwovoriole to continue to be worthy ambassadors of the state even as they ensured high professionalism in the temple of justice.
Gov. Okowa reminded the new silks of their conferment with a privilege which he said had putthem in an onerous position of responsibility both morally and professionally.
He said that their sound command of the practice and ethics of the profession undoubtedly earned them the silk.
“As leaders in the enviable legal profession, your elevation places on you a crucial responsibility of providing pupillage for young lawyers.
“It, therefore, behoves on you as Senior Advocates, to groom young lawyers well, not only in the practice of law but also in the ethics of the legal profession,” Okowa said.
