The ongoing nurses strike in Kenya has claimed the life of a popular Kenyan actress, Maureen Wanza who died while giving birth.
Maureen’s baby died shortly after its mother.
DailyNation reports that the actress was rushed to a private clinic after developing complications.
“It was an emergency. While at the facility, her situation worsened as she gave birth. She bled to death. Unfortunately, her baby also died minutes later,” said Ashiners Films CEO Ann Hamburg.
Her death occurred at a time hundreds of patients in the country are seeking treatment in private hospitals due to the industrial action of nurses which has crippled services in public hospitals.
It was gathered that nurses in the country have threatened to take legal action against any governor who replaces any of them.
