A 40-year-old panel beater, Ismail Ajani, has been charged before an Ikeja Chief Magistrate’s Court on Thursday, for allegedly beating up an Octogenarian over sex.
Ajani, a panel beater, who resides at 1, Tade St., Agidingbi, Ikeja, was charged for assault.
According to the prosecutor, Sergeant Joseph Ajebe, the offence was committed on June 26 at Agidingbi, Ikeja.
He told the court that the 40-year-old man was passing by and saw the complainant, 80-year-old woman, lying down in front of her house around 8.30 p.m.
“The accused went to her and told her he wanted to lay with her; the woman refused, tried to push him and he started beating her.
“If not for the woman’s sister, who came to the scene, the accused would have beaten her to stupor,” the prosecutor said.
Ajebe said that the scream of the woman’s sister alerted the neighbours and the accused was apprehended.
He added that the offence contravened Section 171 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The accused, however pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Chief Magistrate, Alexander Komolafe granted the accused N50, 000 bail with two sureties in like sum and adjourned the case until July 17 for mention.
