Delta state governor, Ifeanyi Okowa, has hailed the acquittal of Senate President Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct Tribunal (CCT).
While noting that it is obvious the case against Senator Saraki was a distraction to governance, Okowa expressed gladness that the Senate did not allow the trial to hinder their performance.
Okowa, in a statement, said: “Saraki’s long and tortuous trial was a victory for democracy and rule of law.”
He stressed that Saraki’s victory shows that the judiciary remains a bastion of hope for everyone seeking redress and added that he is glad Senator Saraki has been vindicated.
“This judgement is good for our democracy as it will further enhance Nigerians’ faith in the judiciary.’’ the Governor said.
While congratulating Saraki, Okowa implored the Senate president and members of the National Assembly to always protect the rule of law and the fundamental rights of Nigerians.
