Former Minister of Aviation, Femi Fani-Kayode, says Moshood Kashimawo Olawale Abiola, acclaimed winner of the 1993 presidential election, was murdered with ‘Abuja tea’.
Fani-Kayode stated this while speaking on the incidents surrounded the election and subsequent imprisonment of Abiola.
Abiola, who was incarcerated after declaring himself president, died in custody on July 7, 1998 in Abuja, the nation’s capital the day he was supposed to be released.
In a video interview granted on June 12, 2017, the former director-general of former President Goodluck Jonathan campaign for 2015 presidential election, insisted that the military government in power at that period murdered him.
He said former US secretary of state, Condoleezza Rice, prepared the poisoned tea that Abiola drank and died from.
Fani-Kayode also described MKO Abiola and his wife, Kudirat as true heroes and martyrs of democracy.
