The IGP told the officers to quash all thoughts of retaliation against the Navy ratings who attacked the Akim Police Station in Calabar on Tuesday.

The attack, which was triggered by the gunshot wound inflicted by a police officer on a Navy personnel, led to tye death of three police officers as the station was set on fire.

Idris gave this warning through the Deputy Inspector-General of Police in charge of Training and Capacity Development, Emmanuel Inyang, who was in Calabar to inspect the burnt building, vehicles and other facilities.

He said a panel of enquiry would soon be set up to look into the incident.

Addressing officers and men of the Akim Police Station, Inyang lamented how a simple disagreement escalated and insisted that order must be maintained.

He said the Police hierarchy would not frown on any act that would jeopardise the cordial relationship that exists between the security agencies in the country and the military.
