The trial of the six suspects arrested by the Nigeria Police Force in connection with the Ile-Ife crisis has been postponed till Thursday.
The accused who arrived the court at about 9am, did not appear before the judge due to what Muritala Agboola, counsel to the suspects, called a procedural error on the part of the prosecution.
The suspects are Oba Ademola Ademiluyi, Pastor Taiwo Fakuwajo, Akeem Eluwole, Jimoh Bakiru, Daniel Olanrewaju and Bamidele Elusanmi
Addressing newsmen, Agboola said the prosecutors were expected to have come before the court with a motion seeking the judge’s consent when the suspects were brought on Tuesday but they did not.
He also said the suspects would be brought to the court again Thursday.
Agboola, however, condemned the continued detention of the suspects, saying they have been in police custody for over a month.
Simon Lough, counsel to the police, said the judge had yet to give directive for the resumption of the sitting.
Lough noted that the judge had the power to determine when the sitting would start.
