The police in Abuja have paraded four suspected fraudsters who were allegedly involved in the act of impersonating ministers, politicians and aides to President Muhammadu Buhari by cloning their phone numbers.
The arrested suspects were identified as Babatunde Oshamoto, 49, Ovie Ogogo, 47, Abdulazeez Eragbe, 40, and 25-year-old Samuel Idah.
The force spokesman Jimoh Moshood said all the suspects confessed to the crime.
Victims of impersonation
The police listed the names of some of the top government officers impersonated as follow: the Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari; the National Security Adviser, Babagana Moguno; the Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, Ibeh Kachukwu; and the Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun.
They were also alleged to have impersonated Senate President, Bukola Saraki, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Rotimi Amaechi, and the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal.
