Hundreds of protesters have reportedly stormed the entrance of the National Assembly complex in Abuja, Nigeria’s capital, to protest the continuous killing of indigenes of Benue State by herdsmen.
About 10 persons were killed by suspected herdsmen in the north-central state last weekend.
Ortom Orders Herdmen To Leave Community
The incident saw Governor Samuel Orton issue a 48-hour ultimatum to herdsmen to leave Tombo-Mbalagh in Buruku Local Government Area.
The governor gave the order on Monday in Tombo-Mbalagh after assessing the damage inflicted on the community.
It was gathered that no official of the National Assembly addressed the protesters.
Meanwhile, more police officers are said to have been drafted to the assembly complex to maintain law and order.
