Sheikh Ibraheem El-Zakzaky’s son, Muhammad, has petitioned the Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), over the continued detention his father by the Attorney-General of the Federation (AGF), Abubakar Malami (SAN).
He also petitioned the Legal Practitioners’s Privileges Committee.
Justice Gabriel Kolawole last year ordered the release of Zakzaky and his wife from the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS).
Muhammad accused the AGF of ‘gross misconduct’ over his failure to comply with the court order to release of his parents from custody.
El-Zakzaky’s son urged the legal bodies to apply appropriate sanctions and punitive measures against the AGF for disobeying an order of the court.
Ibraheem El-Zakzaky, the leader of the Islamic Movement of Nigeria (IMN), and his wife have being held by the DSS since December 2015, following a tragic confrontation between the sect’s members and the military which led to the death of many people.
