Speaking with PREMIUM TIMES, Audu’s Lawyer Mark Jacob said:

“I arrived at the Force Headquarters and learnt that a detention order has already been signed for him,

I am not sure he will be released tonight.”

Maikori To Be Charged For Public Incitement

Jacob said that according to the police, a magistrate had issued a warrant for Maikori’s arrest and have plans to charge him with attempts to “incite” the public.

Meanwhile, the former CEO and lawyer, in January, tweeted that his driver identified as Simon Joseph, told him that he lost his brother in a Fulani herdsmen ambush in Southern Kaduna and will be travelling for the burial.

He tweeted:

“My driver’s younger brother and five other students of college of education Gidan Waya were ambushed and killed by herdsmen yesterday #SouthernKaduna.

“They were in a commercial car going back to school when the driver stopped suddenly under the pretext of checking his engine #SouthernKaduna.

“As soon as the car stopped the attackers shot all 6 students but let the driver who is Fulani go. He gave us these details #SouthernKaduna.

“When we speak, we are viewed as trouble makers by the Govt. Well I have seen the pictures and it’s a painful sight #SouthernKaduna.”

The purported attack, raised a great fury among the online community who were reddish with emotions.

After two days, the Gidan Waya Kaduna State College of Education, where Maikori said the students were schooling, issued a statement, denying any loss of student from any attack, which was contrary to Maikori’s tale.

Also, the Vanguard reporter who was responsible for the publication, was arrested after the Kaduna State Government frowned and condemned the misinformation.

However, on the 4th of February, following great criticism, Maikori apologized with a tweet that offered a detailed explanation of how he was misled by his driver.

The entertainment mogul’s lawyer said that Simon (his driver) was arrested in Lagos and had been in the police custody since then.

In addition, some Nigerians through social media, have been calling for his immediate release because he already apologised.
