The United Nations, through its International Children’s Education Fund (UNICEF), has commended the Nigerian Army for providing a secure environment which has helped the body achieve its mandate.
A UN representative, Mohammed Fall, revealed this in a statement signed by the Deputy Director, Army Public Relations (7 Division), Lieutenant Colonel Kingsley Samuel.
Fall commended the army when he led some officials of the UNICEF on a “thank you” visit to the Acting General Officer Commanding 7 Division, Brigadier General Victor Ezugwu.
He noted that the secure environment provided by the military had paved way for them and other humanitarian agencies to fulfil their mandate.
The international body’s representative also restated the body’s resolve to assist children caught up in conflict in northeast Nigeria.
In the meantime, the Army commander expressed delight over smooth working relations between the Nigerian Army, the UNICEF, and other agencies.
