One person was killed while five others were injured as unidentified gunmen were said to have attacked Zankan village in Kaura Local Government of Kaduna state.

The police in Kaduna confirmed the incident through its spokesperson, Aliyu Usman.

Usman said the gunmen invaded the community, a predominantly Fulani settlement, on Saturday night and opened fire on the residents.

He also disclosed that security operatives have been deployed in the area to avert any form of fresh attacks or reprisal.

We gathered that an indigen of the area and Deputy Chief Imam in Jema’a Emirate Council, Mohammed Kabiru, said the gunmen attacked the village at about 9PM.

Kabiru said that they shot a 13-year-old boy dead, while other injured persons have been taken to a hospital in neighbouring Plateau state.
