Four people have been killed by Lassa fever disease in Nasarawa State, Nigeria’s north-central region, the state government has confirmed.

Nasarawa state Commissioner for Health, Dr. Daniel Iya, was reported to have confirmed the re-emergence of the disease on Monday.

Nasarawa records 16 suspected cases

The health commissioner told Channels TV that the state had recorded 16 suspected cases while 36 people, who had contact with the deceased, were being followed up.

Iya further disclosed that the cases were recorded in Lafia, the state capital. He added that the government had already taken concrete measures to halt the spread of the deadly disease.
