Adekuoroye on Monday overpowered highly rated Sweden’s Sofia Mattsson of Haryana Hammers Club in the 53kg women category, defeating her 6-1.

Mattsson had fallen 4-0 to Adekuoroye in the opening of the two-round bout which gave her a lead.

She further threw Mattsson off balance in the second round by garnering two more points, while Mattsson picked a point in the match that saw the upset of the day.

Mattsson is the 2016 Olympic bronze medalist and is rated higher than Adekuoroye.

She suffered a loss in the hands of Mattsson at the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.

Her performances earned her India wrestling fans’ sobriquet, “dancing queen of the mat’’ because they had observed that she dances after each bout.

She has wrestled in four matches and won all. The first three matches ended 16-0 in her favour and the last was against Mattsson which ended 6-1.

The Nigerian will now wrestle on Wednesday in the semi-finals.

She remains the only unbeaten wrestler of the Pro-Wrestling League since inception in 2015.
