Apparently to manage his dented reputation, Gov Ajimobi of Oyo State has released his own version of video of his tensed encounter with students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso.
The school, co-run by the governments of Osun and Oyo state, has been shut down for eight months. The students had staged a protest to the governor’s office on Wednesday Jan 11 to register their displeasure at being out of school for so long.
The governors reaction, as captured on video, did not go down well with many people since the video went viral on social media.
The backlash has prompted the governor’s media team to release their own version of the video, trying to explain the governor’s outburst.
Yomi Layinka, special adviser, communication and strategy to the governor, wrote a short note in the mail through which the video was sent, reports The Cable.
“You may have stumbled on a one-sided video of the almost one-hour conversation the Oyo state governor, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, had with students of Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH), Ogbomoso, over the continued closure of the college by the university management,” the note read.
“Kindly spare time to watch this four-minute clip that gives a vivid account of the buildup to the said video.”
