Odinaka Nwananwa and Arinze Ozoemena, who allegedly gang-rape a 13-year-old girl, were on Monday arraigned at a Surulere Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
24-year-old Nwananwa and 22-year-old Ozoemena, whose addresses were not disclosed are facing a two-count charge of conspiracy and gang-rape which contravened Sections 137 and 409 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.
The Third To The Trisome Gang-Rape Disappears
NAN reports that according to Police Prosecutor Anthonia Osayande, the accused with another man, who has disappeared, committed the offences on Dec, 22 at School Bus Stop along Ojo-Igbede Road in Ajangbadi on Lagos-Badagry Expressway.
Osayande alleged that the victim was lured by the accused, into an uncompleted building on her way home from an errand for her mother and raped.
“They took her to the uncompleted building and raped her. It was her screaming that attracted neighbours, who rescued her and reported the matter at the police station.” She said
However, the accused, pleaded not guilty to the charges, they were granted bail in the sum of N500, 000 each with two sureties each in like sum by Magistrate Ipaye Nwachukwu.
She said one of the sureties must be a blood relation of the accused, while the other should be a community leader.
In conclusion, she said the sureties should provide evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government and adjourned the case to March 14 for further hearing.
