The unveiling held in Lagos at the team office in Yaba.

As with most events Nigerian, the event kicked off late. 12pm saw it start with an opening prayer.

The kit is a product of Cone Sportwears, who also kit Kano Pillars, Wikki Tourists, Nasarawa United and Shooting Stars.

The jersey, one purple (the home jersey) and one blue, are well-designed, beautiful and looked good on the players.

According to Cone Sportwears MD, the jersey was designed with comfortability in mind, the enhancement of performance and also an avenue for the club management to recoup the money expended via jersey sale.

MFM FC finished just above the relegation places at the end of the last season. Speaking in an exclusive interview with Concise News Global, the team coach, Mr Fidelis Ilechukwu, attributed the team’s poor run to many factors.

He said: “What happened is, after the first round, we could not repeat the form of the first half. My boys were carried away. My key players going off to the national team also affected us.

“Some players with their quality are hard to replace when they are called up. Also we had issues with injuries.”

The coach, when asked about what he will do about the poor defensive record both home and away, said the team would defend better but the focus would remain on attack. “This season, we are going to attack and defend. We will do more of attacking football. We are working on that. It is not going to be easy because the league is very tough. Add that we keep going to the grassroot to pick our team players. We should be given kudos for this.”

This season, “MFM team is not just coming to participate. Anything is possible. I see my team in the top four. I believe in them.”

He said the team is better prepared for the new season as more players have come in. A thought echoed by the team captain, Nelson, who said: “We are preparing hard. In the 2nd half of the season, you know the Nigerian league is hard. We were new last season but we are not new this season. We buckled up later after many distractions. Distractions from outside, within but thank God that we came through. First game, we will win.”

MFM FC open their season with a home game against the Niger Tornadoes at the Agege Township Stadium. Time is 4pm (WAT).
