Nigerian champions Rangers have vowed to beat 2016 Federation Cup winners FC Ifeanyiubah when both sides go head-to-head in Wednesday’s Super Cup game.
The encounter, which is the curtain-raiser to the 2016/2017 Nigeria Professional Football League season, will take place at the Abuja National stadium.
Captain of the Flying Antelopes Okey Odita told NAN in Enugu that the players are ready for their Southeast rivals, even as he believes they can reenact last season’s feat.
“For us, the Charity Cup Competition, which we must win on Wednesday, will open a floodgate of trophies this football season.
“We are determined to win a lot of trophies this season, including the CAF Champions League, the Federations Cup as well as winning back-to-back the NPFL League shield,’’ Odita said.
The captain reassured supporters of the Enugu-based side that they would see a more determined Rangers this season as they are hungry for more titles.
Similarly, a board member of the side, Steve Oruruo, told NAN that the players and officials have been well motivated financially for success.
“Winning the Charity Cup will certainly open the way for other trophies to come into the team this soccer season,’’ Oruruo said.
