In order to encourage innovations in the civil service, the Nigerian government says it will introduce a new reward system for civil servants.
The Head of Service, Mrs Winifred Oyo-Ita, made this known on Saturday.
She disclosed that the new reward system, referred to as “Entrepreneurship Development and Commercial Orientation Strategy” will also help to increase government’s revenue.
Mrs Oyo-Ita further expressed the believe that when implemented, the strategy will motivate civil servants to strive for the height in service.
How promotion is earned in civil service
Staff get promoted based on their academic qualifications as well as number of years in the service.
But many Nigerians have complained about the system, saying they had yet to see growth in revenue generation.
And with the Federal Government’s plan to introduce a new reward system that would promote innovation in the civil service, there could be an improvement.
