The Nigerian Air Force says it would take in 5,000 new entrants in its 2017 recruitment exercise aimed at strengthening the force in the fight against insurgency.
Nigeria’s Air Force chief, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar, disclosed that a lot of strategies are needed to ensure the complete restoration of peace and security in the Northeast and other parts of the country.
Abubakar further explained that the expansion of NAF is to fill in the spaces that would be created by the establishment of the fifth Command in Bauchi.
He also said that the two Mi-35M Gunship Hel recently acquired from Russia would aid operations in the Northeast and other areas.
The aircraft, according to him, have already been delivered awaiting official induction after which they will be launched for operations.
Abubakar also revealed that 62 per cent of Intelligence missions were conducted to determine the location of abducted Nigerians. He made this known while showing footages of the Air component operations and attacks on selected locations, where the insurgents had hibernated,
