“The Wedding Party”which first premiered at the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) in September, has set a record of box office grossing over 120 million naira in 12 days.
36 Million Naira In Three Days
The movie directed by Kemi Adetiba, first broke a record grossing 36 million naira in three days, setting a box office record as the biggest opening weekend in Nollywood.
This comedy was produced by Ebony Life Films, Film One Distribution, Koga Studios and Inkblot Productions. It stars, Adesua Etomi as Duni Coker, Banky W as Dozie, Alibaba and Sola Sobowale as Dunni’s parents, Iretiola Doyle and Richard Mofe-Damijo as Dozie’s parents.
The Wedding Party co-stars Zainab Balogun, Enyinma Nwigwe, Frank Donga, Saka, AY, Ikechukwu, Beverly Naya, Emma oh ma God, Lepacious Bose.
The Wedding Party, is a movie that revolves around a couple (Duni Coker and Dozie), who are in love but are faced with several challenges to test their love.
Dunni Coker 24, is an art gallery owner and only daughter of her parents, she meets Dozie an IT entrepreneur from a much wealthier background, they fall in love and promised to remain chaste till that egg smashing night of their wedding.
With the wedding date fixed, stakeholders at alert, Dunni’s parent who just nipped a large amount of fortune, wants to make the wedding the talk of town. On the other hand, Dozie’s parents are not pleased with his choice of bride because she is not from a family of the same social status.
There is a rift of interest, wealth, status and even the “Chastity” both vowed to protect. As Dozie’s exes fight for to have him back, offensive behavior of some family members and guests, Indeed! this wedding will be the talk of town, but will love triumph amidst this crises? Will both couples win whatever challenges that confronts them???
