Vertonghen, who would miss the game against Watford on Sunday –he picked up his fifth yellow card of the season– might miss more games if the FA sees and deems the incident worthy of being punished.

When asked about the incident, Spurs coach, Pochettino, said: “I didn’t see it. By the way, he got the the yellow card at the end and is suspended for next game. But I didn’t see it. I don’t know. “

The game between the two team ended 4-1 in favour of the Spurs with Harry Kane missing a penalty and Redmond getting sent off. Both managers had differing opinions about the red card with Puel saying: “It seemed from the bench it was two players fighting for the ball. Of course this red card changed the philosophy of the game.  It is a little hard. It was difficult to accept.”
