The PDP candidate in today’s governorship poll in Ondo state Eyitayo Jegede has expressed satisfaction with the voting process, NAN reports.
Jegede also called on electorates to vote for the candidate of their choice.
He spoke while voting at his Unit 9 Ward 2, Gbogi/Isikan, Sacred Heart Primary School 1 in Akure South Local Government Area.
The PDP candidate expressed satisfaction with the voting process, saying it was peaceful and orderly.
Raises concern over card reader
Jegede, however, urged INEC to tackle the challenge of faulty smart card readers in polling units.
“I have discussed with the REC Ondo State on the problems with card readers at most polling units,’’ he added.
Oke not pleased
On the other hand, the governorship candidate of the Alliance for Democracy, Olusola Oke, lamented the malfunctioning of the card readers deployed by INEC.
Oke said this in an interview with newsmen after he had voted at his Igbo Ward III Polling Unit 005.
“I am not easily frustrated. But it is embarrassing as a candidate that the card reader could not easily capture my hand,’’ he said.
Oke then noted that the electoral process in the country was not a perfect one yet.
The AD candidate, however, said he was impressed with the turnout of voters in Ilaje council area.
