As sorting, counting and collation of votes are ongoing in Ondo State, there are indications that Jimoh Ibrahim – PDP candidate till 72 hours before the election – may have switched allegiance and worked for APC candidate (Akeredolu).

This may not be unconnected with the appeal court’s ruling that disqualified him as PDP’s candidate 72hrs to the election and also replaced him with Eyitayo Jegede.

Concise News social media surveillance machinery also reveals that the rich businessman in the last 23 hours before the elections used his social media accounts to solicit support for APC’s Akeredolu.

Below are 5 of such social media statements that indicated Jimoh Ibrahim and his camp voted for Akeredolu:

1. Jimoh Ibrahim openly declares Aketi as his choice

2. Jimoh Ibrahim issued a press statement to endorse APC Akeredolu as best candidate for Ondo governorship position.

3. Jimoh Ibrahim directs his party faithfuls to vote APC Akeredolu

4. Jimoh Ibrahim shows open admiration for opposition’s candidate, Rotimi Akeredolu of APC

5.

PDP may sanction Jimoh Ibrahim

A sneak peek into PDP’s constitution suggests that its erstwhile gubernatorial candidate may have violated section 59 (1) of the party’s constitution.

These kind of anti-party activities usually attract sanctions that range from censure, suspension, suspension with fine or expulsion from the party.

The embarrassing court case that rendered Ondo PDP incapable of properly mobilising its members till a few days before the election is another indication that the PDP may not take matters lightly with Jimoh Ibrahim.

Whether Ondo PDP will sanction or pardon its enstranged candidate is yet to be seen.
