Ikechukwu Ezenwa is confident of a win for the Super Eagles in their World Cup qualifier against Algeria next weekend.

Nigeria occupy the Group B summit with three points. They are trailed by Cameroon and the North Africans with a point each, while Zambia lie lowest, pointless.

And the Eagles shot stopper believes they have the quality to extend their lead in the table with a win against the 1990 AFCON winners.

“Eagles will be good to go against the Algerians given the quality of players invited for the important clash.

“Algerians are certain to prove difficult following the draw against the Cameroonians. But we know what we want and will not compromise on the three points at stake,” Ezenwa said.

To miss Ikeme

The Gernot Rohr side will be without first choice goalkeeper Carl Ikeme, who suffered a hip injury while on club duty last weekend. His absence means any of  Daniel Akpeyi, Dele Alampasu, and Ezenwa will man the team’s post.

“I’m ready to comfortably step into the shoes of Carl Ikeme in the World Cup clash against Algeria. I’m ready to prove my worth if called upon or given the go ahead by manager Gernot Rohr to man the post against the North Africans,” Ezenwa told supersport.com Saturday.

Ready for Mahrez and the rest

The goaltender said he has been preparing for the encounter and will not fail if he gets the chance.

“I strongly believe I will not fail the test or disappoint once asked to be in between the sticks.

“I have stepped up training immediately after our heroic performance in Ndola against the Zambians, preparing for the Algerian clash.

“My personal trainer has done an excellent work putting me through rigorous exercises that will stand me out in the encounter.

“This is nothing personal as each of the other goalkeepers, Daniel Akpeyi and Dele Alampasu, will equally to do an excellent job too.
