The House of Representatives have called out Minister of Finance, Kemi Adeosun, DG-DMO, Abraham Nwankwo and CBN Governor, Godwin Emefiele. The house threatened the trio for refusing information on the disbursement of N600bn bail-out fund.
The House adhoc committee on the disbursement and usage of the bail out fund questioned the presidential aides for ignoring its invitation. It singled out the DG of the Debt Management Office for the treating the issue with levity.
Committee Chairman, Ibrahim Sadiq described the refusal of the trio to appear before his investigative committee as an affront on the institution. He added that it was empowered by sections 88 and 89 of the 1999 constitution as amended to probe the disbursement from the federation account.
Reps Threaten Officials
Sadiq threatened to apply the full weight of the law on the three officials. He said the officials who represented the officials lack the competence to handle the issue.
Furthermore, he claimed that information contained in the documents made available to the committee were misleading.
Similarly, another member of the committee, Karibi Sunday, PDP, Kogi accused the trio of taking sides. While initiating the probe, he said there is a bias towards the 27 state governors accused of mismanaging the fund.
Karibi also added workers unions in the affected states would be invited to state their own side of the story. He maintained that the trio had violated the freedom of information Act by their alleged conduct.
