ECOWAS has urged member states to sensitise communities on the need to reduce population.
President, Marcel de Souza, made the call yesterday where received German Foreign Minister, Frank-Walter Steinmeier,
De Souza advised that a family should breed the number of children they could cater for. This will enhance economic development and reduce migration.
He added that demographic growth in the sub-region is not beneficial to economic development.
He also expressed concern on the spate of terrorism and migration of African youth to Europe.
The president lauded the German government for its continued partnership with the sub-regional bloc.
Steinmeier also commended the ECOWAS’ efforts in enhancing peace and security in member states.
