JTF Clamps Down On Militancy

Lt. Comdr, Thomas Otuji, Deputy Coordinator, Joint Media Campaign Centre disclosed this in a statement on Thursday. He said some of the illegal refineries were located around Opumami and Okogho creeks in Warri, Delta State.

Otuji said that the illegal bunkering sites were discovered by the JTF operatives from the Sector 1 and 4 while on routine patrols of the areas. This led to the recovery of several tools, used by the bunkerers to refine stolen petroleum products.

He added that the five suspected militants were arrested by troops of Sector 4 in the Bakassi and Akpabuyo Local Government Areas of Cross River State. The militants were said to be members of Bakassi Strike Force. The group had claimed responsibilities for recent criminal activities in Cross River State.

They suspects were apprehended while trying to sell two stolen high-power Outboard Boat Engines to boat operators.
