Head coach of Mountain of Fire (MFM), Fidelis Ilechukwu, believes the Lagos-based outfit are in good stead ahead of the new NPFL season.

The Olukoya Boys will open their second successive campaign in Nigeria’s top-flight against Niger Tornadoes on Sunday at the Agege stadium.

And coach Ilechukwu, whose side barely escaped relegation in their debut season, knows how vital it is to begin the season on a winning note.

“We have prepared well enough by all ramification as a team but we want to use these remaining days to round off our preparation,” Ilechukwu told

The coach, fondly called the ‘Working One’, expressed delight over the quality of players at his disposal as well as their level of fitness.

Ilechukwu ‘okay’ with players

“We have signed new players to bolster the team and I believe with the response from the players during our training sessions, we are good to go.

“With what I’m seeing the team will do well because their response in training shows that they are good to go. I believe that by God’s grace they will do well,” he concluded.

MFM finished second in the 4th edition of the Gold Cup, a pre-season tourney, held in Ogun State a few weeks ago. They lost 4-3 on penalties to Lobi Stars in the final.
