After a 45-year absence, the lowly rated team thumped Crystal Palace 3-0 in a convincing win at Selhurst Park.

Huddersfield took the lead when Palace defender, Joel Ward, turned a cross into his own net.

Huddersfield doubled their lead when Aaron Mooy provided a perfect cross from the left for Steve Mounie, who beat a stationary Palace defence to direct the ball home with a header.

The new boys sealed the deal when Steve Mounie smashed in Colin Quaner’s pass from 15 yards.

Soton barren draw

The game between Southampton and Swansea ended in a goalless draw as the host lacked the needed depth to push for victory; recording just two shots on target in 90 minutes.
